# Enable Two-Step Verification (2SV) for Account owners

**This feature is gradually being made available to all users.**

**Note**

Only account owners can enable 2SV.

Two-Step Verification (2SV) offers an added layer of security, protecting your account from unauthorized access. By activating 2SV in the account owner’s Account Settings, every login will require an email, password, and a secure verification code.

**Note**

* 2SV applies only to users authenticating with their email and password. For instance, Google logins do not require 2SV, and Single Sign-On (SSO) bypasses the 2SV flow.

* Only available for account owner and team members.

* Two Step Verification code is required when changing your account email or password.

## Set Up 2SV for Account Owner

To set up 2SV on your account:

1. Log in to your account on a desktop device and access your dashboard.
2. Click the **Avatar** **icon** in the top navigation bar and select **Account** to open *Account Settings*.
3. In Account Settings, locate the **Account Security** card to view and manage your 2SV security options.
4. Click **Enable** next to 2-step verification for your account in the Account Security card.
5. Enter your password. If you lack a password or used Google for sign-in, click **Forgot Password?** to set up a password and verify.

**Warning**

This is your only chance to save the one-time use backup code crucial to resetting your 2SV if you lose access to your authenticator app.

10. Click **Finish Setup Just For Me** to complete the 2SV setup process.

## Sign In With 2SV for Account Owners

Once 2SV is set up, every login with your email and password will prompt for the 6-digit verification code from your authenticator app. You can sign in using either a verification code or the backup code saved during your initial 2SV setup.

# 2SV Troubleshooting and FAQs

**Is 2SV required every time I sign in?**

Yes, after the initial setup, 2SV is required for every sign-in using your email and password, ensuring continuous account security.

**What type of 2SV apps do users use?**

We recommend using Google Authenticator.

**Do SSO or Google sign-on users need 2SV?**

No, users exclusively using SSO or Google sign-in for login are exempt from the 2SV setup.

**On which platforms is 2SV enforced?**

2SV is mandatory for web, desktop, and mobile app logins. Note: 2SV setup is unavailable on the mobile app.

**How to change 2SV device?**

If you want to change your 2SV device, disable 2SV using the current device code, and then enable and setup 2SV again with your new device.

**What should I do if I lose my phone with the authenticator app installed?**

If you lose your phone with the authenticator app installed, follow these steps to regain access to your account:

1. **Use the Backup Code:** If you have the backup code you saved from the initial setup of 2SV, use it to access your account. Backup codes are single-use and provide an alternative method to authenticate without the need for the authenticator app.

If you have a team member who has lost their mobile device or is encountering other issues related to two-step verification (2SV), as the account owner, you have the ability to resolve the problem by deleting and re-adding the team member's account.
